Mystical Fox

In Cut and Paste, Uncategorized on December 30, 2015 at 8:58 am

Fox

Kitsune is the Japanese word for fox. Stories depict them as intelligent beings and as possessing magical abilities that increase with their age and wisdom. According to Yōkai folklore, all foxes have the ability to shape shift into men or women. While some folktales speak of kitsune employing this ability to trick others, as foxes in folklore often do, other stories portray them as faithful guardians, friends, lovers, and wives.

Foxes and human beings lived close together in ancient Japan; this companionship gave rise to legends about the creatures. Kitsune have become closely associated with Inari, a Shinto kami or spirit, and serve as its messengers. This role has reinforced the fox’s supernatural significance.

The Kingfisher

The Dutch call the Kingfisher ‘IJsvogel’ (Ice bird). Funny, as these bird never even come close to the ice. Instead they live in rain forests, places near a source of water and fish. It’s for this reason also that they are the most amazing fishers! A family of Kingfishers eat up to a 100 fishes each day.

Nature boy

In Cut and Paste on September 18, 2010 at 6:01 pm

There was a boy
A very strange enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far, very far
Over land and sea
A little shy
And sad of eye
But very wise
Was he

And then one day
A magic day he passed my way
And while we spoke of many things, fools and kings
This he said to me
“The greatest thing
You’ll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved
In return”

Kiss that frog

In Cut and Paste on June 19, 2010 at 7:08 pm

Splash, dash heard your call
Bring you back your golden ball
He’s gonna dive down in the deep end
He’s gonna be just like your best friend
So what’s one little kiss
One tiny little touch
Aaah, he’s wanting it so much
I swear that this is royal blood
Running through my skin
Oh can you see the state I’m in
Kiss it better, Kiss it better
Kiss that frog

From ‘Kiss that frog‘ by Peter Gabriel

Lazy

In Cut and Paste on May 8, 2010 at 11:08 am

Lazy, I get so lazy
When Im with you
I just want to stay there
Doing something
Approaching nothing

I think I had an appointment
Something important
But I cant remember
I know I should care
But Im just too lazy

Id rather spend the afternoon
Just lying here with you
Thats all I want to do
Since I met you

Monday  I should be working
I call in lazy
I cant make excuses
No one believes me
They know the truth is
That Im just

Lazy  its unamerican
I should be fighting
For my promotion
I would feel guilty
But Im too lazy

Id rather spend the afternoon
Just making love to you
Thats all I want to do
Since I met you

Lyrics from ‘Lazy‘ by Richard Shindell

Sand Storm

In Cut and Paste on May 2, 2010 at 4:44 pm

I want to hear the coyote’s howl floating down
the cap-rock breaks through the prairie grass!
I want to feel the brown sky –
Feel the sting of sand upon my cheeks making mud with
tears only the West Texas Wind can bring to my eyes.

From ‘West Texas Sandstorm‘ by Connie “Sage” Williams

Beneath the tree

In Cut and Paste on March 28, 2010 at 6:26 pm

Standing here
The old man said to me
Long before these crowded streets
Here stood my dreaming tree
Below it he would sit
For hours at a time
Now progress takes away
What forever took to find
Now he’s falling hard
He feels the falling dark
How he longs to be
Beneath his dreaming tree
Conquered fear to climb
A moment froze in time
When the girl who first he kissed
Promised him she’d be his
Remembered mother’s words
There beneath the tree
No matter what the world
You’ll always be my baby
Mommy come quick
The dreaming tree has died
The air is growing thick
A fear he cannot hide
The dreaming tree has died

Lyrics from ‘The Dreaming Tree‘ by Dave Matthews Band

Mother and Child

In Cut and Paste on February 14, 2010 at 7:15 pm

No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reu-nion
Is only a motion away, oh, little darling of mine.
I can’t for the life of me
Remember a sadder day
I know they say let it be
But it just don’t work out that way
And the course of a lifetime runs
Over and over again

From ‘Mother & Child Reunion’ by Paul Simon
